There are several workprogrammes relating to
the operation of Framework Programme 7. Each workprogramme is
based on the information detailed in the legally based Specific
Programme, but is developed by the European Commission in consultation
with various advisory bodies, and agreed by the Member and Associated
States nationally appointed representatives, the Programme Management
Committee.
Each workprogramme will be associated with a
call for proposals, and it is crucial that the correct workprogramme
be consulted in the preparation of any proposal/application.
The workprogrammes are revised on an annual basis
in order that the activities to be funded in any year take account
of those that have already been funded (and don’t fund the
same thing twice), and are those where the research community
(through the various advisory committees) has demonstrated that
there is both the need and the critical mass to respond to a specific
topic. These topics should relate back to the scope provided in
the Specific Programme, and it is through consulting the Specific
Programme that it may be possible to predict the types of projects
that might be requested in future calls.
