22 new calls for proposals announced
On 3 September, the EC launched 22 calls for proposals
relating to the 2009 workprogrammes and budget. Although the calls have
been launched simultaneously, the deadlines are staggered from late
November through to early 2009, depending on the particular call.
The calls encompass eight of the ten themes in the Cooperation
specific programme, with only ICT and Transport omitted. In many cases,
the calls for proposals were originally expected back in July 2008. In
addition, several calls were launched relating to themes under the Capacities specific programmes.
The number of calls is significantly
greater than the number of themes covered: probably due to the fact
that separate calls have been launched for different project types or
activities within themes. In some cases, this may be to increase
transparency within calls, ensuring only one closing date per call.
However, given that some of the closing dates across a theme are the
same, it is possible that this is a measure to facilitate the
evaluation process: sorting proposals automatically before the deadline.
Links to the calls can be found on the FRENZ call information page, or on the European Commission's CORDIS website.
A series of
information and training events is expected to take place in the coming weeks and months. Researchers should contact their Research Office or FRENZ for information.
NZ success and FRENZ assistance
Already, New Zealand organisations are
involved in several successful proposals as a full partner (with EC
funds in some cases) in both the Cooperation and Capacities programmes;
as a host in Marie Curie Outgoing International Fellowships; providing
researchers to Europe as Marie Curie Incoming International Fellows;
and as a secondment partner in the International Research Staff
Exchange Scheme.
FRENZ is available to answer any and all questions
that you might have about getting involved with the Framework
Programme.
