Marie Curie Fellowships
The Marie Curie Fellowships scheme has had massive
success, and has benefited from greater than expected budget increases
between successive Framework Programme. For FP7, the EC had build
upon the fellowship types available in FP6, although in some cases
there has been a shift in emphasis. For this reason, researchers
who applied in FP6 are strongly advised to read the relevant documentation
for FP7 to ensure that they are still eligible to submit an application/proposal
and that they fully understand the subtle changes that have been
made.
The Marie Curie Fellowships have been split into
5 headings, each of which aims to respond to specific problems
within particular areas of the European research community.
International Dimension
Activities under the International dimension heading seek to contribute
to the life-long training and career development of EU-researchers
through interaction with researchers from third countries (such
as New Zealand). It is there that the EC seeks to support the
mobility of senior European researchers to third countries (such
as NZ) and third country researchers (such as NZers) to Europe
for fellowship stays of up to 2 years. In all cases, these fellowships
focus on the opportunity to attract the best research talent and
to foster mutually beneficial research collaborations between
research actors from inside and outside Europe. In addition, there
is also the opportunity to reintegrating European individuals
back into the European research community following an extended
period international research experience.
