What is FRENZ?
FRENZ (Facilitating Research co-operation between Europe and New
Zealand) is a joint initiative between the New Zealand Ministry
of Research, Science and Technology (MoRST) and the European Commission
(EC) to enhance the engagement of the New Zealand research, science
and technology community with the European Union’s Framework
Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7).
The FRENZ Mission
The FRENZ platform seeks to facilitate the engagement
of NZ research organisations and their researchers with
the European Union's FP7 and other related EU opportunities. The
FRENZ services seek to facilitate an increase the quality,
quantity, profile and impact of NZ-EU research co-operation under
FP7 through the development and execution of a suite
of activities to increase the awareness of opportunities for NZ
engagement and facilitate the realisation of these opportunities.
FRENZ aim
The aim of FRENZ is to provide the necessary information,
guidance and support required to promote the effective
participation of the New Zealand research community FP7.
The Framework Programme is neither a golden nor
a poisoned chalice!
It may not be appropriate for the collaboration
that you’d like to develop. The topics in the current call
might not fit with your research. You might not yet have the contacts
to get into a major collaborative project. FRENZ aims to help
you identify your fit with the Framework Programme, and develop
a strategy for engagement where appropriate.
Alternatively, you may have heard from colleagues
in Europe that the Framework Programme is too bureaucratic, and
involves too much effort. It’s true that the rules are complicated,
but FRENZ is here to help you learn the rules to concentrate your
effort in those areas where you have the best chance of making
an impact.
In essence, FRENZ aims to help you make an
informed decision on how and when to engage with the
Framework Programme.
